Elmer C. Torres

Past Chair

Elmer Torres is a member of San Ildefonso Pueblo whose strength in leadership is reflected in his experience and commitment to the 22 Tribes of New Mexico, his passion for improving education, and his work with various federal, tribal, state, county, and city government agencies. He held the positions of San Ildefonso Pueblo Governor and Tribal Council member, and during his 39 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Elmer was Tribal Liaison Director in the Government Relations Office.

After retirement, he started a second career as owner of Than Povi Fine Art Gallery. In addition to his service on the LANL Foundation Board, he also serves on the Junior Achievement of New Mexico Board of Directors, USS Santa Fe Committee, and New Mexico Navy League. Elmer joined the LANL Foundation board in 2016.
