Gary joined the University of California’s Office of Federal Governmental Relations in September 2005 and served as Associate Vice President from 2009– 2017. He currently focuses on national laboratory-related issues. Prior to joining UC, he was the President of Falle Strategies and a Director at Kissinger McLarty Associates, an international business consulting firm. He previously served as Chief of Staff to Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson and as Acting Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Prior to his work on the federal level, Gary was appointed State-Federal Relations Director for the State of Ohio, worked with Florida Governor Lawton Chiles on a project to improve government accountability to taxpayers, and served as Assistant Executive Director at the South Florida Water Management District. He was also a budget and taxation analyst for the Ohio Legislature and the National Conference of State Legislatures. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Dayton and an M.S. in Social and Applied Economics at Wright State University.
