Mike joined the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation staff in 2019 to serve as Scholarship Program Manager. He brings more than 20 years of experience supporting New Mexico youth and at-risk populations in areas of outdoor experiential education, leadership development, substance abuse prevention and wellness. Most recently from 2007–2018, he served as New Mexico Simon Scholars program director at the Simon Charitable Foundation, where he successfully grew the program from a traditional scholarship reaching a handful of students to a comprehensive academic enrichment and college success program serving a growing community of first-generation students from high school through college completion.
Mike, a first-generation college graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Indiana University, specializing in Outdoor Leadership. He is passionate about social justice, equity, and supporting traditionally underserved members of the community. Mike is an avid mountain biker and snowboarder and enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children.
